I don’t understand. If I’d prefer not to use the tablet-like controller and want to use the WiiMote on the new WiiU games, can I? Or will the WiiU games only be able to be controlled by the tablet controller?
The tablet thing looks kind of fun, but I like the freedom of movement the WiiMote gives you. Having an option would be awesome.
Using infrared (IR) light pens and the Wii Remote, it is possible to create very low-cost multi-point interactive whiteboards and multi-point tablet displays. Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. The software can be downloaded at johnnylee.net
There is a function of the Mii Channel called Special Miis. This was intended for Nintendo to release special “celebrity” Miis that could not be copied, but only transferred to friends’ consoles or controllers. However, using a Bluetooth adapter and a PC, you can make your own Special Miis, even make your own Mii special!
Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University.
